LMI Sponsors, Attends DRI’s Drug and Device and CLM’s Product Liability Seminars
In mid-May, LMI sponsored and attended two simultaneous seminars. First, LMI sponsored and attended the Defense Research Institute’s [DRI] 2013 Drug and Medical Device Seminar, May 16-17, 2013, at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York, NY. This year’s seminar featured presentations aimed at instructing counsel what jurors think about the Food and Drug Administration, how to try multi-plaintiff pharmaceutical cases, and which “judicial hellholes” to avoid. The seminar also included a Young Lawyers Blockbuster featuring an in-house panel that discussed how outside counsel may most effectively work with in-house counsel to proactively minimize litigation. In addition, networking opportunities, such as receptions and law firm-sponsored parties, offered attendees the chance to discuss these topics with colleagues, clients and industry experts.
LMI also sponsored and attended the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance’s [CLM] 2013 Products Liability Seminar, held May 17, 2013, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. This half-day, mini-conference showcased presentations that discussed a broad range of issues critical to product liability cases. Programming included how to minimize liability of innocent product sellers, claims investigation of building products, use of recording devices in international litigation, and a session entitled “What Every Insurer and Lawyer Should Know About Specialized Coverage for Product Contamination and Product Recall.” Seminar attendees were provided ample opportunity to interact with fellow attendees who represented experts in the field, including insurance industry executives and in-house counsel, thus maximizing attendees’ educational experience.
